Valentino offers a hybrid working schedule with three days in office, and two days remote. This role is a full-time permanent position based in our New York Office.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
The Director of Visual Merchandising is responsible for defining and implementing Valentino's Visual Merchandising strategy in North America across all channels of distribution, ensuring consistency and high visual standards that are representative of the brand image, while focusing on delivering profitable business drivers within our fastest growing channels.
Responsibilities will include:
- Team management – will oversee team of 7. Will be responsible for their professional development and growth.
- Design and oversee production of customized merchandising elements for Valentino open-service environments in North America.
- Flexible, solutions oriented with the ability to solve merchandising challenges creatively while remaining on-brand.
- Innovative creative designer who understands the retailer and business needs.
- Build collaborative relationships with retail partners, display vendors, engineers, and multiple internal and external, and cross functional teams.
- Partner closely with Executive Leadership and Retail Events on budget, timing, scheduling, on-counter dates for merchandising tools, and works to manage issues as they arise.
- Identify and improve efficiencies and value engineering.
- Creative solutions oriented with experience with retailer's processes, approvals, restrictions, and schedules.
- Create concepts to support regionally relevant VM initiatives and oversee the development, training and execution of merchandising guidelines and communication for the North America region.
- Liaise with Regional and Global Creative and Marketing to develop key merchandising and product distortion strategies and facilitate the creation of assets and initiatives that address market business needs and enhance consumer experience.
- Lead regional VM's on the development of new door merchandising layouts and schematics.
- Monitor and evaluate all VM initiatives in terms of sales, feasibility and profitability.
- Conduct routine market visits to review, assess and monitor issues, progress and opportunities pertaining to VM initiatives.
- Leads, motivates and inspires a team of highly effective VM professionals.
- Ability to present to and influence Senior Management.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of retail industry Visual Merchandising experience preferably in luxury fashion with strong specialty multi- channel background.
- BS or BA in Architecture, Interior Design or Industrial Design, Store Design and Visual Merchandising.
- Fluent in Italian preferred
- Excellent organizational skills, quality execution, and attention to detail.
- Flexibility and strong problem-solving skills are a must.
- Flexible team player with the ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Self-starter with exceptional project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to articulate ideas and concepts clearly and accurately to cross functional partners.
- Ability to present and influence all levels of management.
- Inspiring leadership and management skills.
- Skills: Technical drawings, 3D renderings, project management, strong knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes, detail oriented, strong multi-tasking skills.
- Useful Software Skills: Adobe Illustrator, InDesign & Photoshop, Sketchup, Vector works, Rhino.
Budgeted salary range: $180,000 - $190,000 ( based on experience)
