Valentino offers a hybrid working schedule with three days in office, and two days remote. This role is a full-time permanent position based in our New York Office.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
The Director of Accounting, reporting to the Americas CFO, manages through her/his leadership all Accounting Operations: Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Accounting, Lease Accounting, Cost Accounting, Treasury and Taxes across the USA, Canada and Mexico.
The Director of Accounting functions in a leadership role, collaborating with internal business partners inclusive of the Italy Corporate Headquarters.
Responsibilities will include:
LEADERSHIP
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the extended accounting team, including setting team member goals, facilitating training, and fostering professional development.
- Collaborate effectively with the Americas management team and maintain strong working relationships with peers at Valentino Headquarters in Milan, seeking guidance when necessary, sharing best practice etc.
- Manage a variety of vendor relationships related to income tax, governmental agencies, auditors, banks, insurance etc.
ACCOUNTING//MONTH-END CLOSE PROCESS
- Direct for US, Canada and Mexico
- Accurate 5 days month-end close process (income statement and balance sheet) in accordance with IFRS and US GAAP.
- Accounts payable functions include but not limited procurement, contract reviews, invoice review and recording, weekly payments etc.
- All accounts receivable includes but not limited picked tickets approval, new client creation, payment management, chargeback analysis etc.
- Lease Accounting and IFRS16 includes but not limited store lease review, right of use asset, lease liability, impairment etc.
- Cost Accounting and Gross Margin
- Tax accounting includes but not limited sales tax, income tax, quarterly tax provision, deferred tax etc.
- Financial reporting in partnership with FP&A Manager
GOVERNANCE
- Serve as a "champion" for best practices, standard operating procedures, and internal controls, working closely with both internal and external auditors as well as Valentino stores.
- Oversee risk management through insurance policies and claims handling.
- Ensure the integrity of accounting data within the SAP S4H system and the Valentino consolidation tool.
- Support sustainability reporting initiatives.
- Manage tax and treasury functions by leveraging relationships with banks, tax advisors, governmental agencies, and other relevant entities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration required
- CPA required
- Must have Retail and Wholesale accounting experience
- SAP S4H experience
- Proven leadership and team management experience
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Demonstrated highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to think creatively, highly-driven and self-motivated
- Strong organizational skills
Salary Range: $170K-$180K (based on experience)
