WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR

A Temporary Staff Accountant will act as a strategic partner to the Accounting Department.  They will support the management of retail accounting, banking and fixed asset accounting. This role will be reporting to the Accounting Manager.

Position Details:
• Contract Length: 6 months (temporary)
• Pay Rate: $30/hour
• Work Arrangement: Hybrid
• Location: New York City, NY

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform bank reconciliations and maintain cash accounts.
  • Reconcile and record concession settlements and other cash-related transactions.
  • Reconcile store credits, sales deposits, and related accounts.
  • Investigate and resolve chargebacks, payment disputes, and fraud issues.
  • Reconcile intercompany accounts receivable and payable balances.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist with fixed asset accounting and journal entries.
  • Support monthly sales tax filings and compliance requirements.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 3+ years of corporate accounting experience
  • 1+ years of SAP experience required
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel & Outlook)
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles, regulatory standards, and compliance requirements
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with intercompany, upper management, and external auditors/vendors
  • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality
  • Effective verbal, listening and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with hands-on approach
  • Good presentation skills for educating team members on accounting principles
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to ensure that all job functions are performed in a timely and efficient manner
