WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
A Temporary Staff Accountant will act as a strategic partner to the Accounting Department. They will support the management of retail accounting, banking and fixed asset accounting. This role will be reporting to the Accounting Manager.
• Contract Length: 6 months (temporary)
• Pay Rate: $30/hour
• Work Arrangement: Hybrid
• Location: New York City, NY
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform bank reconciliations and maintain cash accounts.
- Reconcile and record concession settlements and other cash-related transactions.
- Reconcile store credits, sales deposits, and related accounts.
- Investigate and resolve chargebacks, payment disputes, and fraud issues.
- Reconcile intercompany accounts receivable and payable balances.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
- Assist with fixed asset accounting and journal entries.
- Support monthly sales tax filings and compliance requirements.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes.
- Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3+ years of corporate accounting experience
- 1+ years of SAP experience required
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel & Outlook)
- Knowledge of general accounting principles, regulatory standards, and compliance requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with intercompany, upper management, and external auditors/vendors
- High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality
- Effective verbal, listening and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with hands-on approach
- Good presentation skills for educating team members on accounting principles
- Excellent planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to ensure that all job functions are performed in a timely and efficient manner
